Short stories are built around the sounds and words already practised, helping children recognise them in a real reading context. They include comprehension questions to help children understand what they read, develop their imagination and progressively build confidence.

DhanaScan FAQ
From what age is DhanaScan recommended?
DhanaScan is designed mainly for children from age 3. Older children who have difficulty reading can also use it with adult guidance.
What is the SERCER method?
SERCER follows six steps: Scan, Listen, Repeat, Colour, Practise and Reinforce. The child scans a card, listens to the sound, repeats with DhanaScan’s guidance, colours workbook illustrations, practises activities for each sound, then reinforces learning through cartoons, challenges and riddles.
Do I need to print the cards and workbooks?
No. It is no longer necessary to print the cards to get started. Children can learn directly with the virtual cards in the app. Printed cards remain available for hands-on play, cutting out and building words. Workbooks can be printed for colouring and off-screen exercises, or imported into Apple Books for digital use.
Does DhanaScan listen to the child’s pronunciation?
Yes. In guided activities, DhanaScan can listen while the child repeats to help practise pronunciation. The aim is to encourage the child, not make them feel they have failed. If the app does not understand a syllable after several attempts, the child can try saying a word beginning with that syllable, or add an article before the word.
Can parents follow their child’s progress?
Yes. Parents can see their child’s progress and earned badges. They can also print badges from the Cards section, cut them out and stick them into the workbooks when the child has completed the activity. Badges celebrate progress without encouraging more screen time.
Which languages are available?
French, English and Hindi are currently available in DhanaScan. More English and Hindi content is being prepared and will be added progressively.
Is DhanaScan free?
Yes. DhanaScan can be downloaded for free. Some complementary resources, such as workbooks, cards or educational content, are available as affordable in-app purchases to support development and the creation of new content.
Does DhanaScan require a subscription?
No. DhanaScan does not use a monthly subscription.
Do in-app purchases and YouTube episodes require parental approval?
Yes. Paid resources and YouTube episodes should be used with the approval and supervision of a parent or responsible adult.
Does DhanaScan work with other cards?
No. DhanaScan works with Dhana educational cards designed specifically for the app, including built-in virtual cards and printed cards.
Does DhanaScan work with Siri?
Yes. With App Intents, families can directly open certain sound packs. For example: “Scan card B with DhanaScan” or “Open B cards in DhanaScan”.
Are DhanaScan resources protected?
Yes. All resources offered through DhanaScan, including cards, workbooks, stories, illustrations, animations and educational content, are protected by copyright and remain the property of DhanaScan.
Does the app collect personal data?
No. DhanaScan does not collect children’s personal data. There is no child account and no advertising.
What is the camera used for?
The camera is used only to scan Dhana educational cards. Images are not sent to a server.
My child does not yet have the necessary vocabulary. What can I do?
You can complement learning with DhanaMoriah, an app designed to enrich children’s vocabulary through images, words and simple activities.

How does it work?
A clear progression: Scan, Listen, Repeat, Colour, Practise and Reinforce.
S Scan
The child scans a virtual or printed card with DhanaScan.
L Listen
DhanaScan pronounces the sound, or the sound and its associated word, to guide the child.
R Repeat
The child repeats with DhanaScan’s guidance to practise pronunciation.
C Colour
The child can colour the workbook illustrations away from the screen or import the workbook into Apple Books to colour digitally.
P Practise
The child completes activities for each sound to develop early reading and writing skills.
R Reinforce
The child reinforces what they have learned through cartoons, challenges and riddles with Dodi.
